Protect Yourself from Online Scams

 


E-mail "phishing" attacks and other online scams are circulating as spammers, hackers and others with malicious intent attempt to take advantage of people's concerns about the Swine Flu outbreak. We strongly advise that you take precautions to avoid falling prey to potential scams including fraudulent emails or websites purporting to have information about the outbreak.

  • Do not visit un-trusted Web sites or follow links provided by unknown or untrusted sources. Visit reliable sources, such as your state's health advisory Web site or the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for accurate information about the Swine Flu.
  • Do not open e-mail attachments from un-trusted sources.
  • Protect your computer(s) by ensuring all patches and anti-virus software are up-to-date.
